The all-female Swedish band Doughnuts turns in a scratching, abrasive set of assaultive hardcore with Age of the Circle, which demonstrates influences from early-'80s hardcore punk to heavy metal.
Queens of the Stone Age is the eponymous debut studio album by American rock band Queens of the Stone Age, released by Loosegroove Records on October 6, 1998. It was primarily written and recorded in April 1998 by founding member Josh Homme and his former Kyuss bandmate Alfredo Hernández, with Hernández playing drums and Homme singing and playing the rest of the instruments. The Circle is a 2017 American techno-thriller film directed by James Ponsoldt with a screenplay by Ponsoldt and Dave Eggers, based on Eggers' 2013 novel of the same name. It is the penultimate performance of Headly's career and the final performance of Paxton's career, and was released just after his death in February 2017.
Of course doughnuts in some form or other have been around so long that archaeologists keep turning up fossilized bits of what look like doughnuts in the middens of prehistoric Native American settlements. But the doughnut proper (if that's the right word) supposedly came to Manhattan (then still New Amsterdam) under the unappetizing Dutch name of olykoeks-"oily cakes. Seeing them produced "automatically" somehow made them part of the wave of the future. A doughnut cost less than a nickel, within reach of most of the Depression's victims.
