Voices is a studio album by American saxophonist Stan Getz, recorded in 1966 and released the following year on Verve Records. It features a chorus singing a chromatic, wordless accompaniment in place of a traditional string-section orchestration. I Didn't Know What Time It Was" - 3:24. Nica's Dream" - 3:57. Keep Me in Your Heart" - 4:01. Zigeuner Song" - 3:10. I Want to Live" - 2:54. Where Famingoes Fly" - 3:07. Midnight Samba" - 2:13.
Tenor-great Stan Getz spent several years in Europe in the late '50s. This difficult-to-find French import features Getz in a quartet/quintet with pianist Martial Solal, bassist Pierre Michelot, drummer Kenny Clarke and, on two numbers, guitarist Jimmy Gourley. The results are predictably excellent with such songs as "All God's Children Got Rhythm," "Broadway" and "East of the Sun" among the highpoints.
Anthony Williams is more widely known as Tony Williams, the drummer with the Miles Davis Quintet in the 1960s, among other things.
