Weber – also known for his role in dance favourites Caribou – has ventured everywhere from Chernobyl and Guatemala to the Canadian Arctic, northern mountains of Japan and south America since his first release as Pick A Piper

about trying to balance connectivity with chronically being away. Along with pals Angus Fraser and Dan Roberts, Weber has been making music as Pick A Piper since 2009. Following one EP, a remix album and a self-titled 2013 LP, Distance marks a new direction for the project, with world-hopping influences, from gamelan percussion to a collaboration J-pop hit-maker LLLL thrown into the mix. Pick a Piper’s Brad Weber doesn’t spend much time at home in Toronto since he’s often on the road in Caribou’s touring band. The title of his new album, Distance, refers to that semi-nomadic existence and features collaborations with musicians he’s met on his travels, alongside long-time bandmates Angus Fraser and Dan Roberts
