In Stereo is the debut studio album by hip hop group Bomfunk MC's, released in 1999 through Sony Music Finland/Epidrome. The album reached No. 1 on that year's Finnish albums chart and remained on that chart for 69 weeks. Freestyler" was released as a single and became a chart-topping hit worldwide during the first half of 2000, reaching No. 1 in eleven countries.
Stereo recordings were a fairly new concept for pop music in the 1960s and did not become standard until late in that decade. This explains why the Beatles' initial album releases were mixed for mono. In 1986 both albums had been remixed by George Martin for their CD release in 1987. The box contains a new two-disc compilation album titled Mono Masters, which compiles all the mono mixes of singles, B-sides and EP tracks that did not originally appear on any of the UK albums or Magical Mystery Tour. The "White Album" was originally released in mono and stereo in the UK and several other countries, but in the United States, it was only released in stereo.
In the group's native Finland, the album resulted in Emma awards for best new band, best debut album, best song ("Freestyler") and best producer (JS16) Contents.
Even that In Stereo gained loads of popularity and it stayed long at the Finnish album chart, it cannot be the best shot from this innovative duo. In Stereo contains many songs with a vast amount of potential, but as a whole it kind of fails. There are many tracks that could be easily considered as fillings. The first half of In Stereo is mostly just what you can expect from Bomfunk, but listening to the rest of the album, it seems that they've totally run of ideas.
For the Cartel EP, see In Stereo (EP). For the 2015 film, see In Stereo (film). Studio album by Bomfunk MC's. For example, in jazz fusion Bandleader-composer Miles Davis album Bitches Brew, producers like Phil Spector and George Martin were soon creating recordings that were, in practical terms, almost impossible to realise in live performance. Producers became creative figures in the studio, other examples of such engineers includes Joe Meek, Teo Macero, Brian Wilson, and Biddu.
The Stereo Box collects the stereo versions of all the albums and adds a DVD gathering all the short documentaries in one place. In Mono- limited, but it's not exactly clear yet how limited- is more of a specialty item. Why mono? Two reasons. First, pop music in stereo was still a novelty through most of the 60s. Radio was dominated by single-channel AM, and the young people who bought LPs were far more likely to have a mono record player as a sound source. Mono mixes were prepared first with the involvement of the band, and in some cases, George Martin and EMI engineers completed stereo remixes of the albums later, after the group had left the studio. So mono, first off, presumably hews closer to the intentions of the Beatles themselves. It's what the Beatles had in mind, their vision of the records.
