Relayer is the seventh studio album from the English progressive rock band Yes, released in November 1974 by Atlantic Records. After keyboardist Rick Wakeman left the group in May 1974 over disagreements with the band's direction, Yes entered rehearsals as four-piece at bassist Chris Squire's home in Virginia Water, Surrey

Relayer is the seventh studio album from the English progressive rock band Yes, released in November 1974 by Atlantic Records. Following the departure of keyboardist Rick Wakeman, the group recruited Swiss player Patrick Moraz as his replacement in August 1974 and recorded the album in bassist Chris Squire's home in Virginia Water, Surrey. In May 1974, after the Tales from Topographic Oceans tour in support of their ambitious double album Tales from Topographic Oceans (1973) ended, keyboardist Rick Wakeman decided to leave Yes as he could not understand its concept and disagreed with the musical direction the band took.

Relayer’ was the band’s 7th studio album, released in 1974, and contains just 3 long pieces, including the ambitious 22 minute ‘Gates of Delirium’.

Released in a gatefold sleeve with a beige rough cardboard lyric inner sleeve.

Relayer is the seventh studio album by the progressive rock band Yes. Recorded and released in 1974, it is the only Yes studio album to feature Patrick Moraz, who replaced keyboardist Rick Wakeman earlier in the year. History After the ambitious double-concept album Tales from Topographic Oceans, Rick Wakeman left Yes to resume his solo career. The band auditioned several prospective replacements, the closest contender being the Greek keyboardist Vangelis.

Yes Relayer Tour Tulsa Convention Center Arena Tulsa, Oklahoma Dec. 5, 1974. Lineup: Jon Anderson, Chris Squire, Steve Howe, Patrick Moraz, Alan White. The Relayer album was released on December 5, 1974 less than one week before the concert and roughly a month into the tour. No one in the audience knew the album very well, which was quite unfortunate. Like Tales From Topographic Oceans, the songs on Relayer are much too intense and complex to fully appreciate on the first listen. Similarly, no one knew how the songs from the other Yes albums would sound with new band member Patrick Moraz on keyboards.
