This album is a tribute to the songs that John Fogerty wrote while he was in Creedence Clearwater Revival. a bracing collection that proves Fogerty's legacy only continues to evolve" - Guitar World. Another blah tribute, mainly because they lack John's powerful enthusiasm and voice. In fairness I have to say most of these guys are good musicians but they would be better off keeping their lips zipped when it comes to John Fogerty's music. I did think Have You Ever Seen the Rain and Lookin Out My back door were tolerable but I'd rather just listen to John.
One of the most instantly recognizable voices in music is that of John Fogerty. It's no surprise, then, that someone, somewhere should decide to pay tribute to Fogerty and his music. Dren Records' Chooglin': A Tribute to the Songs of John Fogerty does just that, bringing together a range of predominantly unknown artists to churn out their own interpretations of some of the biggest Creedence hits mixed with a couple of lesser known tracks. Who'll Stop the Rain" - as seen through the eyes of Mark McKay and Scott Murawski - is a marvelous way to open the tribute.

Bayou Country is the second studio album by American rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival, released by Fantasy Records in January 1969, and was the first of three albums CCR released in that year. After ten years of struggling as the Blue Velvets and the Golliwogs, singer/guitarist John Fogerty, his brother guitarist Tom Fogerty, bassist Stu Cook and drummer Doug Clifford scored a hit single with "Susie Q" in June 1968 under the name Creedence Clearwater Revival.
Keep On Chooglin' is the closing track of the original Bayou Country album, the second long-player Creedence Clearwater Revival released. It usually closed the Creedence Clearwater concerts from summer 1969 onwards. Born On the Bayou, Proud Mary and Keep On Chooglin' comprised a trio of songs built around the theme of the mythical Deep South. John Fogerty wrote much of the original material for Bayou Country in early June 1968 in his small apartment in El Cerrito in the Bay Area during the turmoil caused by the assassination of Robert Kennedy. What exactly does "chooglin" mean? John Fogerty explained the word in the Reddit session on May 29th, 2013: "It was just a fun expression that I made up. It wasn't a real word but I wanted have a word that sounded kind of like "rockin," "shufflin," "boogie," kind of rock n roll.
