Bands, label, and release year of the compliation What Is This Place? · A New Plymouth Compilation Album.

A compilation album comprises tracks, which may be previously released or unreleased, usually from several separate recordings by either one or several performers.

All the albums have album artist "Various Artists" and the "album is a compilation" checkbox is checked and yet some are in the right place and some are not. I've even have a double album where disc 1 is correctly showing under compilations and disc 2 is incorrectly showing under various artists. Any advice/guidance to resolve this would be gratefully received.

Keep compilation, album name, year and album artist tags identical. To avoid fragmentation of a compilation, you need to make sure that every track has identical values for certain tags. These tags, the compilation tag, album name, year and album artist, are potential identifiers for the surrounding release and should be the same across any given release. Album name and album artist are both obvious. If half of the tracks from the same compilation are tagged with the album "Greatest Hits" while the other half are tagged "Gratest Hits" they'll show as two albums. As well as keeping the artist name consistent within a compilation album, you should keep it consistent across your collection. It's annoying to want to browse all of your 'Various artist' compilations and realise you have to browse through 'Various', 'Various artists' and other variations to find all of your compilations.

Street Jams: Hip-Hop From the Top is a series of four good compilation albums of essential old school hip hop tracks. It was released on cassette and CD between 1992 and 1994 by Rhino Records and features a number of influential 12" singles that came out in the late ’70s to the mid ’80s.

Shouldn't MusicBee consider "Album artist + Album name" as the only key to identify an album, and not take "Artist + Album name" if "Album artist" is empty ? I use MusicBee . what works for me is set Album artist various artists. musicbee should then see one album. for Christmas eg you may use something like album contains Christmas. that will fine all albums with Christmas in the album name. so i use album contains Christmas + genre is Christmas.
