The Michigan Marching Band (MMB) is the University of Michigan student musical ensemble best known for performing marching band shows at Michigan Wolverines football games. From it's roots in the first 24 member Michigan Band of the 19th century, the MMB has evolved to over 400 members. The band performs at all home, select away games, and countless Michigan athletic events and other performances.
Kelly Bertoni, from Chelsea, Michigan, will be a Senior at the University of Michigan in the Fall of 2019. Kelly is an Angell Scholar, double majoring in Organizational Studies and Communication Studies and minoring in Music through the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA) rs and serving as the 2018-19 Drum Major this past season. Kelly has also played clarinet in the Michigan Basketball Pep Band for three years and supports the band programs as an active member of the.

For over 100 years, the Michigan Marching Band has thrilled thousands of fans with exciting performances that have made this one of the great college bands in the country. That tradition of excellence thrives today as the MMB continues its pursuit of the highest levels of visual and musical performance as it "takes the field" at the Big House in Ann Arbor.
Michigan Marching Band. University of Michigan. In 1896, Harry dePont invited musicians throughout campus to attend a meeting for the purpose of organizing a band. Two years later, the MMB became an indispensable part of the Michigan tradition by playing at the football games. After Michigan moved out of the Western Football Conference in 1911, J. Fred Lawton and Earl Vincent Moore composed the fight song 'Varsity', which became an immediate hit. George Olsen became the marching band's first drum major in 1914. The band fraternity, Kappa Kappa Psi, was established to promote and serve the University bands in 1925.

Campus Jazz Ensemble The University of Michigan Campus Jazz Ensemble is the premier non-major jazz performing experience offered by the School of Music, Theatre & Dance. Acceptance into the group is by audition only. Auditions happen on the first normally scheduled rehearsal evening and results are posted before the next rehearsal.
The band’s Script Ohio is considered by many to be the most memorable tradition in college band history. Band members are responsible only for the purchase of a white dress shirt, black shoes, blazer and black dress pants.
