Emil Petrovics, Gábor Devecseri. Lysistraté - Comic Concert Opera. Symphonic Orchestra of the Hungarian Radio and Television, conducted by György Lehel. Legnépszerűbb albumok.
Emil Petrovics originally intended the one-act opera he wrote in 1962 on the basis of Aristophanes's comedy, and then reworked nine years later, as a musical. While both works performed on this evening provide a very enjoyable listening, they will also be coupled with captivating visuals at the Spring Festival. A few years ago, Kossuth Prize laureate Tamás Juronics and the Szeged Contemporary Dance Company very successfully joined forces with the Dohnányi Orchestra in a production of Carmina Burana, and we are again to expect a grand, high-spirited, spectacular choreography

Comic opera denotes a sung dramatic work of a light or comic nature, usually with a happy ending. Forms of comic opera first developed in late 17th-century Italy. By the 1730s, a new operatic genre, opera buffa, emerged as an alternative to opera seria. It quickly made its way to France, where it became opéra bouffon, and eventually, in the following century, French operetta, with Jacques Offenbach as its most accomplished practitioner.
