The new Bjork album, Biophilia, is at the forefront of technology. Before the premiere of the actual disc, the Icelandic pop star has ventured into the state-of-the-art area of music distribution process. Biophilia has recently been released as a series of 'apps' from Apple. Due to this invention, fans can listen to songs, explore their origins, become acquainted with their meaning and even remix some of them. This digital presentation results in a fully cognitive experience that helps to explore the music more thoroughly than ever before.

Biophilia has a unique sound all to its own with a prevalent motif found throughout the entire record, yet there is much diversity within this album. This time, Bjork harnesses beautiful melodies, lush choirs, captivating rythyms, eerie moods, short blasts of intense break-beats, custom-made instruments, and much more. The lyrical theme of Biophilia is focused on natural and scientific subjects including geology, microbiology, astrology, and other topics. This record is in part a return to more traditional songs (traditional by the standards of Bjork, anyways), but Biophilia is definitely new.
