Vladimir Horowitz - Enregistrements Aufnahmen 1930-1951.

Vladimir Horowitz: Recordings 1930-1951. The drawback to this comprehensive feast of prime Vladimir Horowitz is EMI's overzealous noise reduction, which smoothes the edges off of the great pianist's unique sonority. This is less bothersome in the 1951 sessions, which produced two delicious Scarlatti Sonatas not reissued elsewhere. The high-voltage Horowitz of the thirties was a more direct, less mannered artist than his older self. But his classic Liszt Sonata, Chopin Fourth Scherzo, and other solo EMI jewels are best heard via APR's superior (albeit more expensive) transfers.

Complete HMV Recordings 1930-1951. Composer: Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Debussy, Haydn, Liszt, Poulenc, Prokofiev, Rimsky-Korsakov, Scarlatti, Schumann, Stravinsky, Rachmaninoff. Reissued to mark the 25th anniversary of the death of Vladimir Horowitz, this 3CD collection presents the complete recordings he made for HMV. As an extra, the set includes the first official release of Horowitz’s 1936 recording of the Chopin Funeral March

Vladimir Samoylovich Horowitz (/ˈhɒrəvɪts/; Russian: Владимир Самойлович Горовиц; Ukrainian: Володимир Самійлович Горовиць; Yiddish: וולאדימיר סאַמוילאָוויטש האָראָוויץ‎; October 1 1903 – November 5, 1989) was an American classical pianist and composer born in the Russian Empire. He was acclaimed for his virtuoso technique, his tone color, and the excitement engendered by his playing. He is recognized as one of the greatest pianists of all time.
