Concerto for Orchestra, Sz. 116: I. Introduzione - Andante non troppo. Music for Strings, Percussion, and Celesta, Sz. 106: I. Andante tranquillo. 106: II.

Pierre Boulez, Cleveland Orchestra. 6. 4. Slightly Tipsy. Pierre Boulez, Cleveland Orchestra. 7. 5. Swineherd's Dance.

Pierre Boulez, a French composer, conductor, and essayist, was a leading figure in the avant-garde of the 20th century. Bartók: The Miraculous Mandarin; Four Orchestral Pieces; Three Village Scenes.

Only 3 left in stock (more on the way). Anyways, even though Maazel took a somewhat sterile approach, Pierre Boulez is the winner here! this box set contains the most politically and emotionally sterile recordings of Mahler's music. This is a fine combination of readings with the Vienna Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the Cleveland Orchestra, the highlight recordings here are the 1st, 5th, 6th, and 9th.

Pierre Boulez continues with the Concerto for Orchestra by Béla Bartók, the last piece finished by the Hungarian composer and premiered in 1944 by the orchestra conductor Serge Koussevitzky who commissioned it. The undisputed master of this repertoire, Boulez gives this piece all of his motoric strength. As an encore comes the luxuriant "Fêtes" (taken from the Trois Nocturnes ) by Debussy. What could be more fitting for an anniversary?
