Gunnar Idenstam, concert organist has created a program which combines traditional Christmas hymns, folk music and the sonic possibilities of a great church organ, in his own original arrangements. Idenstam is joined by folk fiddler (and baroque violinist) Lisa Rydberg as well as Sofia Karlsson and Emma Härdelin, two of Sweden's most distinctive voices in the traditions of folk music and ballads. A key role is also played by S:t Jacobs Chamber Choir,

Improvisations is a 1962 LP album by Ravi Shankar. The opening piece is based on music from Shankar's score for Satyajit Ray's 1955 movie Pather Panchali with flutist Bud Shank playing in Indian style. Shankar composed "Fire Night" influenced by the 1961 Los Angeles fires and the song features jazz musicians Shank (flute) and Gary Peacock (bass) improvise over Indian percussion instruments

Gunnar Idenstam is a concert organist, composer and folk musician. He studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and also the virtuoso French tradition in Paris. His musical background comes from classical music mixed with the folk and symphonic rock of the 1970s. He has brought these influences into the context of organ music to expand his audience's appreciation of the organ, and to build bridges between French cathedral music traditions, symphonic rock, and folk music.

Gunnar Idenstam, concert organist, composer and folk musician, is internationally recognized for his virtuosic playing, stunning improvisations and untraditional approach to organ music. Firmly grounded in classical music, but with an enduring love for the folk and symphonic rock music of the 1970s and a great interest in Swedish folk music, Gunnar Idenstam aims to expand his audiences’ appreciation of the organ and to transcend the limitations of genre
