Louis Allen Rawls (December 1, 1933 – January 6, 2006) was an American singer, songwriter, actor, voice actor, and record producer. Rawls released more than 60 albums, sold more than 40 million records, and had numerous charting singles, most notably his song "You'll Never Find Another Love like Mine". He worked as a film, television, and voice actor. He was also a three-time Grammy-winner, all for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance.
Louis Allen "Lou" Rawls (December 1, 1933 – January 6, 2006) was an American recording artist, voice actor, songwriter, and record producer. He is best known for his singing ability: Frank Sinatra once said that Rawls had "the classiest singing and silkiest chops in the singing game". Rawls was born in Chicago on December 1, 1933, and raised by his grandmother in the Ida B. Wells projects on the city's South Side. The Way It Is", a song by Nicole Atkins from her album Neptune City. The Way It Is", a song by Tesla from their album The Great Radio Controversy. The Way It Is", a song by Emily Williams released as a single.
This period proved an immensely productive one, as the artist managed to produce over a dozen records between 1965 and 1970. From a creative point of view, they also tended to get the better out of both Rawls and composer/producer David Axelrod. The latter teamed up with Rawls and was given enough space to develop his own unique ideas, complete with session musicians of his choice and arranger . To this day, both albums did not receive a proper release on CD. Too bad, for the album cover is definitely worth a closer inspection: The Way It Was: The Way It Is finds the artist appearing from a dark background, tightly dressed in black leather and a stick to match. April Stevens would know how to teach that tiger, wowowowowowouldn't she?

The career of Lou Rawls turned around with a hit live album and then a studio recording that took him to the top of the R&B chart, Love Is A Hurtin' Thing. The session featured such studio A-listers as Barney Kessel on guitar and Earl Palmer on drums. On Billboard’s Top Selling R&B Singles chart of 12 November 1966, Rawls’ single completed its climb to No. 1, unseating the Four Tops’ ‘Reach Out I’ll Be There,’ no less. It also reached No. 13 on the Hot 100, and suddenly, the singer was set fair . The Way You Do The Things You Do. The Temptations.
