Doolittle is such an excellent album. The Pixies are just good, period. They are one of the few bands that I actually stay really excited about. They have been such a huge indie rock influence for the past 20 years or so. They have influenced so many talented bands from Nirvana to Radiohead. Doolittle is a really great album. I think I like it better than Surfer Rosa, which is also an excellent album. This album is just eclectic, fun and different. It is still classic Pixies, which makes it better. It is worth the money and you can pick up most Pixies albums relatively cheap.

Doolittle was an album audibly intended to push the Pixies into the big time, or at least as close to the big time as a US indie band could hope to get in 1989, an age when mainstream rock meant Phil Collins and Tina Turner. Out went producer Steve Albini, who’d recorded Surfer Rosa in 10 days, occasionally in the studio toilet; in came Gil Norton, who’d worked with Echo and the Bunnymen and Del Amitri.

Redirected from Tame (song)). Doolittle is the second studio album by American alternative rock band Pixies, released in April 1989 on 4AD. The album's offbeat and dark subject material, featuring references to surrealism, Biblical violence, torture and death, contrasts with the clean production sound achieved by the newly hired producer Gil Norton. Doolittle was the Pixies' first international release, with Elektra Records as the album's distributor in the United States and PolyGram in Canada.

Comments:

Watikalate
Doolittle was Pixies at their peak on vinyl and live. 1989. Come On Pilgrim and Surfer Rosa were great records but it all came together with Doolittle. Melodic indie punk. How else could you describe it. Personal favourites: Debaser, Hey and Gouge Away. But the album could be listened to from front to back without skipping a track.
