Carl Lee Perkins (April 9, 1932 – January 19, 1998) was an American singer-songwriter who recorded most notably at the Sun Studio, in Memphis, beginning in 1954. Amongst his best-known songs are 'Blue Suede Shoes', 'Matchbox' and 'Everybody's Trying To Be My Baby'. Carl Hall was born and raised in the West End of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (Hall's hesitance to discuss his age means n. .He was renamed Carl Henry Hall on his second Mercury single, "Summertime," and in 1965 he was billed as Carl Hall on "My Baby's So Good," which was co-produced by Quincy Jones.
