The Joy Division Peel sessions are a series of sessions recorded by English post-punk band Joy Division for John Peel's radio show on BBC Radio 1 between January and November 1979. The first EP, The Peel Sessions, was released in 1986 by record label Strange Fruit. It features recordings made for John Peel's show broadcast on 14 February 1979, and was recorded at the BBC Studios in Maida Vale, London, England on 31 January 1979. None of the songs had been released prior to the broadcast.
Still is a compilation album by English rock band Joy Division, consisting of previously released and unreleased studio material and a live recording of Joy Division's last concert, performed at Birmingham University.
Joy Division recorded its first John Peel Session in January and second in November of 1979. The group's first full-length release, Unknown Pleasures, would hit the streets between the two - around the same time Manchester's sewage system collapsed (at least the city had something to celebrate in its hometown band's brilliant debut). They were rendered somewhat redundant once combined into this recording.
Joy Division were really picking up steam by the beginning of 1979; all the key relationships between Tony Wilson, Martin Hannett, and The Factory had been made and "A Factory Sample" was on its way to release. At the same time, John Peel was frequently playing the new 12" version of "An Ideal for Living" over the airwaves. He invited Joy Division into the studio for their first session.
The Peel Sessions" is a collection of the two Peel Sessions recorded by Joy Division in 1979. None of the songs had been released before the transmission. Peel sessions - Pour les articles homonymes, voir Peel. De nombreux albums enregistrés pour l émission radiophonique de John Peel sur BBC Radio 1 portent le nom de Peel Sessions. La plupart de ces albums sont édités par le label Strange Fruit.

Joy Division Format: Audio Cassette. This album is key to any Chameleons fan collection. If you think there can't be any other great Chameleons tracks you haven't heard--well you are sort of right, unless you have overlooked the Peel Sessions. If the Peel Sessions appeals to you look for the album Here Today Gone Tommorow, not quite as good but still worth owning.
