Switched-On Bach is the first studio album by the American composer Wendy Carlos, released under her birth name Walter Carlos in October 1968 by Columbia Records.
The album was also certified platinum and broke new ground for Electronic music. Following the release of Switched On Bach, Wendy Carlos composed the highly influential and hugely successful soundtrack for the film A Clockwork Orange. Over the years following the original release of Switched-On Bach in 1968, CBS was overwhelmed with requests for more SOB! Thus the sequel, Switched-On Bach II evolved in 1974. Disc: 1. 1. Wendy Carlos, who was born Walter Carlos but later changed her name - and gender - experienced this hostility first hand when she recorded Switched-On Bach.
